I don't think jazz is so much on the decline as other styles are growing. Also, I think jazz used to be the popular music for people to dance to. Now it other styles. If we take the generation that danced to jazz and look where they are now, they still play a lot of jazz and are still actively attending performances. I think it just isn't as obvious anymore because they aren't open about it. I used to walk into my grandma's house and she would always have jazz on. She would also tell me about when she would go dancing with my grandfather-to jazz.
